Band of the Week, 7/16: The Starting Line

Who are they: The Starting Line are a five piece pop-punk band from the Greater Philadelphia area that released three albums from 2002-2007 before going on a hiatus. Their final show took place at The Bamboozle Festival in 2008, but recently they have taken to playing one-off holiday shows in their hometown area. In 2009, they played two shows in Philadelphia (one at the Theater of the Living Arts, the other at The Trocadero) and in 2010 they played a show at Starland Ballroom (it was actually 2011 by the time it was played because snow postponed it to January 7). They have been inactive since a short run of shows supporting All Time Low in the summer of 2011 however.

Why are they Band of the Week: Because that inactivity is over. The Starting Line have just announced today that they will be embarking on an 8-date headlining tour celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their debut full-length Say It Like You Mean It. The tour features three dates in this area, with shows at the Irving Plaza in New York on December 28, Starland Ballroom in New Jersey on December 29, and Electric Factory in Philadelphia on December 30. The band hasn’t announced support as of yet, but this announcement has caused much pandemonium among their considerable fan base.

What You Need to Hear: Well, this should be fairly obvious, but you need to hear Say It Like You Mean It to familiarize yourself with the record before the band plays it in its entirety this December. Here is the first track, "Up & Go."
