Song of the Week: 4/18- Motion City Soundtrack "True Romance"

What is it?: "True Romance" is the lead single off of Motion City Soundtrack’s fifth studio full-length, entitled Go, which will be released on June 12 through Epitaph Record and the band’s own Boombox Generation Records. The song is a mid-tempo number that is one of the most poppy in the band’s discography.

Why is it song of the week?: Whenever  a band the caliber of Motion City Soundtrack releases a song from their upcoming album, it’s going to make headlines. "True Romance" lives up to these headlines completely. Featuring the synths the band is famous for and some of lead singer/lyricist Justin Pierre’s trademark quirky lyrics, the song is vintage Motion City Soundtrack. Interestingly, Pierre has said in interview that Go would be darker at times than My Dinosaur Life, with some songs having screams and live strings in different songs throughout the album. However, the bridge of this song gives a hint of the possible shape of the album, with a down-tempo bridge featuring Pierre crooning, “I believe it’s true,” in one of his best vocal performances.

Where can I Hear It?: The song originally went up for streaming on Rolling Stone’s website here. But opportunists have put the song on youtube, as you can see below. The song is also available at all digital outlets, so please purchase it if you enjoy it.
